Quick Take: Bears escape with a victory

Fly...

Come on - "Fly with me....."

It was over when ...

Lance Briggs took a Culpepper interception back to the endzone. The Clark-Kent-A-Like-Score was the 13-10 lead late in the game. Third string corner Corey Graham sealed the deal with the second interception taken back for a touchdown.

Game ball

The Chicago defence saved the day for a abysmal offensive effort by Kylie Orton. Even with their leader Brian Urlacher on the sideline backups Nick Roach and Hunter Hillenmeyer got more playing time and continued the tradition of hitting and winning.

Key stat

The Lions were three times in the Bears red zone and managed to score just one touchdown. The 10-yard run through the middle came one play after MLB Brian Urlacher was injured and the defence was about to restructure.

Noteworthy

Honestly – nothing really special. The Bears escaped with a victory in a battle of two bad teams.

Quick Take: Niners win 26:19 against Saints

Shaun Hill threw for 197 yards and a TD and Frank Gore found the endzone twice as the San Francisco 49ers (6-1) held off a late rally by the New Orleans Saints (4-3) en route to a 26-19 win at Candlestick Park.

The game seemed to be in the books early in the fourth when a safety gave the Niners a 26-12 lead. But second-stringer Alex Smith struggled in relief of Hill and failed to close out the game. His first drive ended with a pick inside the red zone and the ensuing drives stalled.

After a late 62yd TD bomb from Drew Brees to Devery Henderson and a recovered onside kick, the Saints found themselves driving for the tying score in the final minute of the game. Brees threw deep to Henderson again, but this time, 49ers CB Walt Harris snatched the slightly underthrown ball to seal the win for San Francisco.

Led by Shaun Hill, the Niners jumped out to an early 14-0 lead on back-to-back 1yd-TD-runs by running back Gore. The most impressive play of the game came seconds before the second TD when a deep throw by Hill hit veteran Isaac Bruce in stride for a 49yd reception. The 49ers benched Hill and Gore midway through the third after going up 24-6 on a 12yd TD reception by Delanie Walker. A coaching decision that should come back to haunt them and make them earn the win the hard way.

Week 8: Bengals pull off huge comeback, edge past Steelers 28-27

Quick take: Bengals pull off huge comeback, edge past Steelers 28-27

Game Winner

Palmer finds a wide open Ben Utecht for the game-winning TD

It was over when...

Ben Roethlisberger's last-second desperation pass from midfield was knocked down by a Bengals defender in the end zone, sealing a highly improbable victory that saw the Bengals come back after having been down 24-7 at halftime, and 27-14 at the end of the third quarter.

Game ball

Carson Palmer continued where he had left off in last week's embarrassing loss to the Jets, ending the first half with 2 INTs and a dismal passer rating of just 11! However, the second half was a different story, as Palmer passed for 3 TDs (including the game winner from 3 yards out to TE Ben Utecht with 30 seconds left on the clock), and ended the game with 316 yards passing.

Key stat

Pittsburgh's offense seemed unstoppable in the first half, scoring 24 points without punting once. But the Bengals' defense tightened up after halftime, after which the Steelers failed to convert on a single third down.

Noteworthy

The Steelers defense sacked Palmer 6 times in the first half, including 3 on the Bengals opening drive... Having lost 3 HBs to injury in previous weeks, Pittsburgh had to use its fourth-string HB Gary Russell. He did well in rushing for over 100 yards, but when he needed a breather, the Steelers struggled to find bodies to line up in the backfield, resorting to TEs and at one point even their punter to run the ball!... With the win, the Bengals move into first place in the AFC North with a 5-2 record, but all three other teams are right behind at 4-3.

Week 8: Rams win without a TD 15:10

Quick Take: Rams win without a TD 15:10

Huiiiii

No penalty here!!! What a unrealistic game!  Laughing

It was over when...

Josh Brown chose his golden "boot shoe" and Moose911 was very accurate in the kicking game.

Game ball

goes to: Rams kicker Josh Brown connecting on all his five FG tries.

Key stat

"Jackass" again and again and again is coming through each week. Sounds familiar. Take a look back to week 7 to find out. Steven Jackson`s statline in this game was 30 carries for 150 yards, a 4.4 avg. and no TD`s. Cleveland converted only one third down conversion thanks to a dominant Rams defense.

Noteworthy

Joshua Cribbs had a kickoff return for a TD to open the second half narrowing the Rams lead to 9:7. After that play it Marc Bulger fumbled and the momentum shifted a little bit. Browns scored a FG to take a 10:9 lead. The Rams finally came through with 2 FG`s in the last 5 minutes of the final quarter to win the game.
