Quick Take: NFC North rivalry game sees victorious Bears leaving Packertown

Hester is the man!!!

Kyle Orton launches the perfect pass to David Hester, who beats corner and saftey to score with a 90yrd TD reception early in the 3rd quarter

It was over when...

Bears running back Matt Forte rushed for 34 yards on the 3rd play in overtime, giving the visiting team great field position which resulted in the winning 51yrd field goal. The Bears already set the foundation with a good kick return to their own 41 yard line.

Game ball

goes to David Hester whos 90yrd TD reception early in the 3rd quarter gave the Bears a lead that the Packers had to play catch up to for the rest of the game. Beating corner and safety, he caught the perfect pass from Kyle Orton in stride and got into the endzone untouched.

Key stat

Both MLBs, Chicago's Brian Urlacher and Green Bay's Nick Barnett dominated the Defense with 10 and 11 tackles respectively. Urlacher was responsible for two GB three and out drives in the second half, while Nick Barnett was a main contributor to the Bears bad 3rd down conversion rate.

Noteworthy

While a "roughing the kicker" penalty allowed the Packers to score the equalizer and get back into the game right before halftime, they probably lost the game commiting a "delay of game" penalty on 2nd and goal on the Bears 2yard line in the fourth quarter. Instead of scoring the TD that would have given them the lead and probably also the win, they had to settle for a game tying field goal allowing the Bears to receive the ball first in overtime.

Week 5: Rams lose 10:27 against NFC West rival

Quick Take: Can the real St. Louis Rams please stand up???

Game Breaker

BANG! This REDZONE is under protection!!!!

It was over when...

the best hit of my short Madden 08 carreer was delivered - against me! WR Derek Stanley was hit from the train Rod Hood trying to get into the Cardinal Redzone with 4minutes left in the 4th quarter. Fellow CB Eric Green picked up the ball and ran with it 77yards into the other house. Instead of a possible TD closing the gap to 17:20 the Rams lost the game with a score of 10:27.

Game ball

goes to: The Cardinal D. and RB Edgerrin James. The durable old RB grinded out the game with a solid 93 yard performance on 25 carries. The Cards D held Marc Bulger totally in check harrassing the Ram QB the whole day and playing very good pass defense.

Key stat

The Rams going 2 of 15 on 3rd down conversion did not help RB S. Jackson. Marc Bulgers QB rating of 11.3 including 3 picks and a 28% completion rate didn`t help, too. The Cards dominated the defensive side of the ball with 1 fumble return for a TD, 3 picks and 3 forced fumbles.

Noteworthy

Jackass was not hot but still effective going again over the 100y mark. Coach Moose wanted to pull Marc Bulger at halftime but was seen throwing the pad instead of crushing the screen. Btw. the QB was 2 of 16 for 20 yrds passing and 3 picks in the first half. American idol and former Ram hero Kurt Warner was celebrated with the ED and delivered a solid perfomance before his former home crowd.
