Quick Take: Bears managed to escape a loss to the Lions

Catch

70 yards to success -  D. Hester caught the game winning TD against the Lions

It was over when...

The Bears finally got to the endzone 4:35 left in the fourth quarter. Kyle Orton spotted his speedy wideout Devin Hester who had a little separation from the corner and the safety. 70 yards later Chicago lead for the first time in the second half and handed the responsibility to the defence that sealed the 19-18 victory over the struggling Lions.

Game ball

Oldie but Goldie Mike Brown came back from injury with a stellar performance. Brown made 5 tackles, one sack, one interception and had a forced fumble. His pick led to the game winning Hester-touchdown.

Key stat

The Lions defence held Matt Forte to just 73 yards and an average of 2.7 yards per carry. For the first time this season the rookie sensation did not reach the 100 yard plateau and struggled to get in the endzone.

Noteworthy

The Lions D-Linemen were the unsung heroes of the game. They had not one, not two but three goal line stands in the first half. DeVries, White, Redding and Darby managed to stop the running game with 1 and goal at the 1 yard line twice.

Quick Take: "Rams?" "20", "Cowboys?" "Nuuulll", "Danke", "Bitte", "LaaaLaLaLa..."

41y TD grab

"Man, I am a freakin fast Rookie WR"... "Oh! No, its Roy Williams..."

It was over when...

Dallas QB T. Romo threw two picks within the last 4 minutes of the 4th quarter. Those two drives stoped the only two promising Cowboy drives at the Ram 18 and 1yard line. The first pick was brought back to the Boyz house for the first INT return TD

Game ball

goes to the Rams defense stopping the high-powered Dallas offense on 10 out of 12 3rd downs. The embarrassing 3rd down conversion rate was the main reason for the shutout win.

Key stats

Dallas 3rd down conversion rate... Rams running game, espicially Jackass gaining 119yards on 30 attempts. Rookie WR Keenan Burton catching 3 passes for 91yards and 1TD... Chris Long had his best game of his young career with 6 tackles.

Dallas!!??... How can you forget your star TE Jason Witten...????

Noteworthy

The Rams could have scored 7 more but a tired Marc Bulger found the wrong button, eh WR and threw a pick in the endzone. The Rams D followed up with a 3 and out and everything was ok. Rams special teams were very good with long FG`s from Josh Brown and a 49.7 punt avg. from star punter Donnie Jones. THANK you Miami for this guy!! Dallas only bright spot was enigmatic WR "me-myself-and-I Owens" catching the only two 3rd down conversions and going wild on short to medium passes.

A Smith came in in relief an sealed the Niners 28-25 win over the Seahawks

The San Francisco 49ers continued their dominance of the NFC West with a hard-fought 28-25 comeback win at home over division rival Seattle Seahawks. While the unbeaten Niners improved to a perfect 4-0, the Hawks remain winless.

The win came at a high price though, as the Niners lost starting QB Shaun Hill with an elbow injury. Hill, who had another good day with three TD passes and one pick, went down late in the game and is expected to be out for 3 weeks. Second-stringer Alex Smith came in in relief and completed a 46yd-pass play to TE Vernon Davis that set up Joe Nedney's second field goal of the day. The 31-yarder that made it 28-18 with under four minutes to go proved to be enough as the Niners held off a late rally by the Hawks.

Seattle made it a three-point game with just over two minutes left on QB Matt Hasselbeck's second TD throw to Bobby Engram, Helped by a facemask penalty on a 4th-and-15, the Seahawks marched down 69 yards in a hurry. With all their three timeouts and the two-minute-warning left, Seashawks head coach Mike Holmgren decided to kick the ball deep. The Niners would not give up the ball again, though. Frank Gore took care of the football and with a couple of big runs, the Niners rumbled all the way down to the Seattle 14 before running out the clock with a couple of Alex Smith kneeldowns.

The Niners jumped out to an early 7-0 lead after Seattle fumbled the kickoff. Takeo Spikes recovered the ball after a crushing hit from Keith Lewis and a couple of plays later, Shaun Hill found Davis in the corner of the end zone. While Seattle managed only a pair of field goals, Hill drove the Niners 70 yards down the field, capping it with a 8yd TD pass to FB Michael Robinson to make it 14-6 with just over three minutes remaining in the half. But Seattle battled back and scored its first TD of the game when Hasselbeck beat the blitz connecting with FB Leonard Weaver in the flat, who rumbled 30 yds down the right sideline to make it 14-12. The Hawks failed on the two-point conversion but got the ball right back when Hill lost the ball on a sack. Hasselbeck did not waste the opportunity, cashing in with a 22yd-TD-pass to Engram. After a shanked extra-point kick, Seattle took an 18-14 lead into the intermission.

Early in the third, the Niners failed to take advantage of a Parys Haralson interception when Joe Nedney missed wide right on a 34-yd-FG.

He did better on his next attempt a few minutes later, though, splitting the uprights on a 50-yarder to get the Niners within a point. In the fourth quarter, San Fran's blitzing defense, which sacked Hasselbeck a total of six times, forced another interception and Hill tossed his second TD pass to Robinson. The Niners also converted the ensuing two-point try to reclaim the lead at 25-18. In relief of the injured Hill, Alex Smith led the Niners 46-yards down the field to set up Nedney's 31-yard field goal that turned out to be the game-winner.

Aaron Rodgers finished the following 5play drive with a 7yrd TD pass to Ryan Grant, giving the Packers a comfortable 24:0 lead at half-time.

Game ball

The Packers got huge momentum, when Ryan Grant caught a short pass on a flat route to the left side line and put a big juke move on LB Chad Greenway to get open and carry the ball 60yrds to the endzone for the 7:0 lead on the third play of the game. The Packers HB continued his strong performance beating the Queens almost single-handedly, he finished the game with 213 total yards and 3 TDs.

Pro-Bowl RB Adrian Peterson was held to 40yrds on the ground.

Noteworthy

Green Bay punter Derrick Frost added to the Packs success by pinning the Vikings inside their twenty yard line with 4 of his 6 punts. Quick Take: Bengals beat Patriots, 16-14... or did they?

It was over when...

On what would have been the last play of the game, the Patriots failed to snap the ball before time expired. After being shut out in the first half, the Patriots took the lead for the first time with just under 5 minutes to go in the fourth quarter when Tom Brady connected with TE Thomas on 3 yard pass. The Bengals fought back valiantly, and drove down to New England's 1 yard line before having to settle for a field goal with 1:30 left on the clock. Then Brady took over, completing one pass after another and taking his team into the Bengals' red zone. All they needed was a short field goal to seal the win, and few in Paul Brown stadium would have bet a cent on the home team to somehow come away with a victory. Yet they did when, in an oddly anticlimactic finish, the Patriots failed to snap the ball in time, despite having nearly 20 seconds left on the clock when they lined up for the FG attempt!

Game ball

Bengals kicker Shayne Graham made the difference in this close-fought game. While his counterpart Steven Gostkowski missed on 2 FG attempts, and didn't even get to try what should have been his third, Graham was perfect, nailing all 3 of his attempts (one of them from 50 yards out).

Key stats

Tom Brady passed for over 300 yards, but was intercepted twice... The Patriots outgained the Bengals in yards, but failed to convert on third down for much of the game, going 2 for 11... Cedric Benson ran the ball 28 times for 94 yards... New England sacked Cincinnati's QBs 7 times - including 3 by Mike Vrabel... In spite of the constant pressure on the QBs, they were able to find T.J Houshmandzadeh 6 times for 92 yards.

Noteworthy

The Bengals lost not one, but two QBs to injury. Carson Palmer went down early in the first quarter with an abdominal strain, and is likely to miss at least 2 weeks of action. His replacement Ryan Fitzpatrick didn't fare much better; after enduring 6 sacks, he was knocked out of the game in the fourth quarter when he tried to run for a first time himself. So Jordan Palmer had to take over, and he made the most of his opportunity. With 2 defenders closing in on him, he found Houshmandzadeh for a crucial 31 yards completion on third down and 5, keeping the Bengals' drive alive and setting up what would be the game winning field goal.
